frequently asked Questions
Why IPL technology for hair removal?

IPL (intense pulsed light) treatment uses strong, broad-spectrum pulses of light to treat hair at the root. The light is absorbed by the melanin in the hair follicle and then converted into heat, resulting in thinner hair regrowth and eventually a complete stop to hair growth. Ulike's IPL devices are FDA approved and offer a cost-effective and convenient solution compared to traditional methods of hair removal.

Does IPL work on all skin tones and hair colors?

It is important to know that IPL treatment is most effective on people with light skin tones and darker hair colors. This is because the light energy primarily targets the melanin pigment in the hair. In people with darker skin tones, excess melanin in the skin can also absorb the light energy, which can cause skin damage. Likewise, IPL may be less effective on people with light hair colors such as blonde, gray, or red. This is due to their lower melanin content, which makes it harder for the IPL device to effectively reach the hair follicles. To ensure the effectiveness and safety of IPL hair removal, we recommend that users refer to the skin tone chart provided before purchasing.

Is IPL suitable for me?

We advise against using IPL devices if you fall into any of the following types:
- A known skin disease
- Skin diseases such as allergic dermatitis, eczema, etc.
- Photosensitive epilepsy
- Menstruation, pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Cancer or a cancer that is in remission
- Sunburn on the skin

Is IPL safe?

Of course! IPL is a popular, well-researched option for safe and effective long-term hair removal. Ulike is FDA approved, UKCA, FCC, CE and RoHS certified for safe home use. Plus, all UV rays are filtered to protect your skin.

Are the results permanent?

After completing the entire treatment plan, the treated area should be completely or almost completely hairless. However, when using the device, you are targeting hair follicles that are currently in the "anagen" phase of hair growth. It is possible that hair that is not in the "anagen" phase during treatment may still grow. You can simply use your Ulike device every few weeks to refresh these areas!

Can I use the device on all parts of my body?

Yes, you can use the Ulike IPL devices on almost any part of your body.
However, please avoid treatment on the following parts of the body:
-the eyes or the eye area
-Tattooed body parts
-Skin areas with open wounds
-Birthmarks, moles or warts
-Areas with plastic surgery
For more information, see the question "Is IPL right for me?".

Can I use the device on my intimate area?

Yes, Ulike IPL devices can be used on the skin around the intimate areas, such as the bikini line, Brazilian wax area and buttocks, but please do not use the devices directly on your genitals.

Does the IPL treatment hurt?

No, unlike laser hair removal, IPL hair removal is generally considered to be much safer and less painful. Additionally, Ulike is the only company to use patented sapphire ice cooling technology to ensure virtually pain-free sessions.

How often should I have treatments?

We recommend using the device three times a week for the first month for best results, then use it every two weeks or once a month for a refresh if needed.

We also advise you to adapt the treatment to your hair growth. If you have areas with thicker hair or stubborn hair, you can increase the power and frequency of treatment. Please always pay attention to your skin's reaction and make adjustments to avoid discomfort.

Can men use Ulike IPL devices?

Yes, of course! Men and women can both use our devices.

Is there a warranty for Ulike devices?

Yes! Every Ulike product comes with a 2-year limited manufacturer's warranty. If your product stops working due to a manufacturing defect, you are entitled to a free replacement. For more details about our warranties, please see our Terms and Conditions.
